FIC: The Perpetrator

Title: The Perpetrator
Summary: It’s Uchiha Uzume’s first week in the Konoha Military Police and she’s just made her first successful arrest.
Rating: General Audiences
Notes: This uses worldbuilding from Dreaming of Sunshine rather than Naruto canon.
Uzume and Amano are my OCs, who were originally created for two or three scenes in a yet-unfinished fic. They then somehow got sucked into
This fic takes place about twenty years before the Uchiha Massacre, shortly after the end of the Second War, when Uzume and Amano are around 17 years old.
Massive thanks to the Shisui Agenda for getting me to actually finish this and helping to beat it into shape for posting!

“Tokimi,” one of the detectives on the night shift with her says in a choked voice, “your daughter and her friend are here.”
“...Did Uzume say what she wanted?” Tokimi asks, checking the clock. It’s late — after two AM. Earlier, at dinner, Uzume said she was planning to meet Amano at a bar. That they’re showing up here and now…
Tokimi really hopes she’s not going to have to arrest her own daughter, especially since it’s Uzume’s first week as an MP.

Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 10:43 pmYou start off in a peaceful village. There’s no sudden destruction, the only reason that you leave is to deliver a package to the husband of one of the villagers. He’s currently helping to set up a mine or something a few villages away.
So you set off… and then somehow, overhear a Plot. A Time Sensitive Plot. A Plot that Endangers Everyone.
And you want to be a hero, right? Or perhaps you want to take advantage of this Plot, and gain a little power and prestige for yourself… maybe more than a little, eventually. Maybe you just want to make sure that your peaceful little village doesn’t go the way of so many unfortunate villages.
Off you go, gaining whatever you were hoping for from the Plot - either the foiling of or the aiding of - the whole while that package from your fellow villager sitting in the first slot of your inventory. It can wait, right? It’s not like you could have delivered it and still had time to deal with the Plot.
Eventually, as the Hero of the Kingdom, or as a member of the New Order, or as a Concerned Citizen Dragged Into Matters, eventually you finally make it to where the villager’s husband is, finally able to turn over that long held package.
…..And he just kind of glares at you. “What am I supposed to do with this? This food is completely rotten now.”
